Jennifer McCrea, Transforming the Practice of Philanthropy

The goal of fundraising is to raise funds right? Fundraising expert and non-profit leader Jennifer McCrea says "money is just gas in the car." Jennifer is Chairman of the advisory board at the MIT Media Lab, she co-authored the book, 'The Generosity Network,' is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, and teaches a course at Harvard called "Exponential Fundraising," for leaders from the nonprofit and social enterprise sectors. And, Bloomberg called her "the billionaire whisperer. " She shares how she discovered that there is another way to raise funds--the first step is to stop calling it fundraising.

The rate of autism in children has doubled in the last 10 years. But what about when kids become adults and school and other support services are no longer available? Diana O'Brien, who is the Chief Marketing Officer of Deloitte, founded a charity called Impact Autism when her kids were diagnosed. Impact Autism not only developed an app to help autistic kids navigate their day, but they are now helping adults navigate college and work settings through an innovative program at University of Cinncinati.
